Roxanne Salton: Three Big Lessons Learnt Going Into Lockdown
At the April 26 AFQY Online Event, Roxanne Salton, CDO for Southern Cross shared the lessons her and her team have learned about preparation, wellness, and perspective while going into lockdown.

Lesson One: People and Resilience
How do we keep our workforce focused, engaged, and healthy?
We've learned how as people we are so resilient and when there is a crisis time, how quickly we can come together, collaborate and get shit done. I am absolutely in awe of all the people absolutely putting their heart and soul into making sure people are safe, enabled and connected.
Lesson Two: What comes next? A new normal
How do we make sure that people still feel they're contributing even though they're home?
The second lesson is really around ensuring that this becomes a bit of a normal, a 'new normal' we call it, and that we're not going to let this delete us and that we're going to absolutely crush this disease.
Now that we've got the adrenaline rush starting to slow down as we've got everyone home, now we're starting to think how do we now manage in the next future? Until we get a vaccine for this we're going to be constantly at risk and therefore how do we now become more flexible in this new normality. How do we connect like we're doing today? How do we make sure that people still feel they're contributing even though they're home?
Lesson Three: Wellness and perspective
Look at things in context and what you can control.
I'm reminded of the things that we're going to be much more careful of when we're working from home: making sure we get outside and get some fresh air, and that we keep our health up.
We've just got to take it one day at a time and remind ourselves of the things that are really important in life. Look at things in context and what you can control.
